Brendan Foley is a feature film producer, writer-director and best-selling author. He has a track record for innovation and creativity in both writing and marketing.

His work as writer, producer and director includes multi-award winning action feature Johnny Was (Sony/First Look) with Vinnie Jones, Eriq Lasalle and Roger Daltrey; marketing world-first thriller The Riddle (Image Entertainment/Mail on Sunday) starring Sir Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave, and chiller Legend of the Bog (Lionsgate/Metrodome). He wrote the best-selling WWII Great Escape biography Under the Wire (Random House), and he co-created and co-wrote the hit  environmental CGI animated series Shelldon (NBC).

Innovation is at the heart of Brendan’s work both creatively and commercially. His best-seller Under the Wire, as well as being named Best New Writing by Britain’s largest book chain Waterstones, was supported by a multi-media marketing campaign that helped it reach the Number One on Amazon UK for both History and Biography – a feature film version is now in development. His feature The Riddle became a world-first when Brendan negotiated its unique release through a marketing deal with Britain’s leading Sunday newspaper, resulting in a DVD circulation of 2.7 million – the largest ever for a UK independent film – and increased revenue for investors.

Prior to working in film and books, Brendan was an award-winning international features journalist covering business, the environment and conflict in 55 countries, ranging from the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska to bomb disposal in Angola. He then ran his own global print and video consultancy which gained Europe’s top marketing communications prize, The PR Week Award, three times for clients including Texaco, Hawker-Siddeley and Coca-Cola. His screenplays have also received awards and commendations from Final Draft, Australian International, EU Media II, and the Archer Prize. He lectures on screenwriting worldwide, has been a guest speaker on film-making at the Bill Clinton Presidential Library.

He loves the work of the Coen Brothers, Preston Sturges and Frank Darabont. He lives in London and Los Angeles.
